For the “nEu-Med day in Maremma” held the 31st of October 2018 in Scarlino, a spear head found during the archaeological campaign 2017 at Vetricella was documented using the photogrammetric technique, and on this basis two reconstructive hypotheses were modelled. This work was aimed at presenting to the public, the kind of activities that the team conducts on the informatic side and as 3D documentation, that, as presented in other articles on this site, is applied on the stratigraphy in situ and, as in this case, on particularly relevant small finds.
This artefact was selected because it could well exemplified how the 3D technologies can help the study, the visualization and the publication of the data, given the partial state of what remains of the original artefact.
As the first step, the find was recorded in 3D using photogrammetric methodologies that resulted in a 3D model complete with texture of the object.
On this basis, inside the software Blender were modelled the two reconstructive hypotheses highlighted during the study of the object as the most likely comparisons, as to help presenting to the public at Scarlino the work carried out by the team for the study and the documentation of an interesting small find.
