10 January 2018: Lecture

Wednesday, 10th January 2018, at the 11.30 am, in the classroom 1 at the Complex of Servi (Via Roma, 56, Siena) will be held the lecture:

“Biological proxies and Geoarchaeology: ostracods and  palaeoenvironments along the Mediterranean coasts”

Ilaria Mazzini researcher of the Italian National Research Council, at the Institute of Environmental Geology and Geoengineering   Roma 1 research area.

Her research focuses on micro-crustaceans shells (ostracods) which provide information on characteristic parameters of water bodies such as salinity, depth, turbidity.

Ilaria is involved in national and international multidisciplinary projects on quaternary sediments and paleartic neogenesis, especially in the Mediterranean area.

Recently she also deals with micropaleontology application with geo-archaeology issues in marine-marginal environments. In fact, ostracods have proved to be valuable tools for a detailed paleo-environmental recostruction
